In the late 1950s the Formosa straits and the Taiwanese island of Quemoy were the focus of shows of force by the US Seventh Fleet. The artwork of the set shows an island in the background.
Just as Triang Minic allow a Royal Navy Task Force of about 1962 to be put together this set does the same for the US Navy. Wiking allows a Foorestal and accompanying missile cruiser Canberra and destroyers to be assembled in 1/1250.
I would love a waterline built and painted version of this set.
