Argh! I've just read your point about the apparent spot 8 actually being 6. You are right of course - zooming right in on my reference photos of the deck, it is clearly a 6, albeit with the top curve almost closed, but I also made the mistake of marking it as 8. I varnished over the top so I'll have to glue a helicopter on top of it to hide the error. The Corgi model certainly has its problem - the aircraft are especially poor - but the others have serious issues too, at significantly higher prices. I had to do so much rectification and scratch building on my Mountford kit that I often wished I'd started off with a block of wood and, whilst I think the SNAFU/Shapeways aircraft (Mountford photo-etch rotors) look very good, you only have to breath on them and the undercarriages snap off. For such a high profile ship, it is a shame that we don't yet have a really good off the shelf (or even kit) representation. In the meantime, I think the Corgi model has a good claim to being the best, if you can live with the full hull.
