because he had 1 lymph node positive microscopically out of the 22 lympnodes that they removed. He also had his entire left lobe of this lung removed. He had 4 cycles of chemotherapy, which is standard of care (SOC) and handled it well. He has the Epithelial Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) mutation and was offered a clinical trial. He started the trial/study drug in January but developed liver toxicity and it was stopped. He has scans every 6 months and so far all has been good until now. I thought we had this beat. The initial lesion on the brain was thought to not be cancer but after his last brain MRI, 3 additional lesions were seen, so it is now believed to be metastatic to the brain. He had another set of CT scans on Friday of his chest, pelvis and abdomen to see if there is cancer present. Please pray there is NONE! Tuesday we see the Radiation Oncologist for a more precise MRI and he will be fitted for a mask. This is when we should have the results of the CT scans from Friday. We meet the oncologist on Thursday to discuss the plan of attack. Bill also had a blood draw to send off to see if he still has the EGFR mutation and if so they are going to start him on a 3rd generation Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor (TKI) drug that does cross the blood brain barrier.
