I have been involved with Speak Up for Horses for many years. They have been my heart and soul. A wealthy couple bought the farm several years ago for the rescue but still charged a good amount of rent for the property. About 6 months ago they decided they wanted to move back to Europe (who can blame them) and they decided to GIVE the farm to Speak Up for the tax write off! It has not been easy. Multi-millionaires are not easy people to deal with. But Shelly did a wonderful job and finally last week the property deed was transferred to Speakup!!! Free and clear the pastures and huge barn and small house belong to the rescue!!!
We struggle for money and to pay bills every month so don't get the idea we are rich. Somehow we make ends meet and the Vet gets paid and feed and hay get purchased.
