Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections

Have no fear of perfection, you’ll never reach it ~ Salvador Dali
Over a coffee meeting this morning a neighbour made it crystal clear that he believed that my self acknowledged flaws evidenced my commitment to bettering the man I was yesterday. Gianni had simply stated that I had owned up to my shortcomings. Confessing that I am in need of saving from my flawed nature testifies to my imperfect human nature. My fragile self accepts that I am as imperfect as the next person. This is the very perfection of a man, to find out his own imperfections ~Augustine of Hippo
The wise person embraces their human weaknesses, sufficiently to want to change, to transform into a person happier than they were yesterday by taking the necessary measures to reject all that is beneath us; to become more fully human.
Our voyage of self discovery is a life long process leading the explorer to learn from life's lessons that the more we discover of who we are becoming, the more we desire to better the person we were yesterday. When we come to terms with our flawed outer nature, we place ourselves in a better position towards resolving those matters that are causing so much soul searching.
We know that our inner life is perfectly made, yet our outer self remains a daily reminder of our many flaws, waiting on us to accept The Saviour's invitation to let Him guide us out of our self obsessiveness, into a life lived to serve those whom The Father sends to us to help, according to His guidance.
Shedding the older self demands the surrender of our ego, leading to the growth of a humbler person well able to accept our absolute need to be transformed by following the call of The Saviour, to let Him lead us through our life's journey of self discovery.
Ephesians 4:22-24
that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
