I quote:
Yet, O LORD, you are our father;
we are the clay and you the potter:
we are all the work of your hands
end quote
Today's readings invite us to reflect on the trust that The Father grants each of us to serve His plan for our life's purpose.
Our Father's love for each of us includes moulding us into the person He plans for our well being, despite our many self imposed blemishes, Our Father will continue to shape us into the person best reflecting His life, alive in our own.
The Lord said to me, "Go down to the potter's house, where I will give you my message." So I went there and saw the potter working at his wheel. Whenever a piece of pottery turned out imperfect, he would take the clay and make it into something else. Then the Lord said to me, "Don't I have the right to do with you people of Israel what the potter did with the clay? You are in my hands just like clay in the potter's hands. If at any time I say that I am going to uproot, break down, or destroy any nation or kingdom, but then that nation turns from its evil, I will not do what I said I would. ~ Jeremiah 18:1-8
When we turn away from Our Father's path, The Father will plead with us to return to His loving care, thence transforming us back into His much beloved child.
The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. ~ John 10
Though The Father is a master craftsman the task of moulding humanity is a particularly difficult one when we decline Our Father's requests. In moulding humanity Our Father has granted the clay free will.
For those of us who return to God's loving embrace our repentance is really the work of the potter, as He begins to reshape us moulding us into His design for our well being forgiving our weaknesses, flaws and self aggrandisement.
7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.
8 They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” ~ Jeremiah 17
