I quote:
The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
In verdant pastures he gives me repose.
R. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
Beside restful waters he leads me;
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me in right paths
end quote
The 23rd Psalm stands out as a poetic teacher of all we should understand when in relationship with our greatest friend, knowing that The Father will look after our every need when we respond in kind to all that He asks of us. Reciprocation is the very foundation of The Covenant that Our Father establishes with us, enabling us to benefit from His loving friendship for us.
When very young and living on the family farm I noted daily that the sheep grazing in the fields were attentive to my dad's voice, and other members of my family responsible for their welfare. I learned day, by day through observation returning from school that sheep are much more intelligent than we give them credit for keenly aware who to respond too, and who to ignore.
Our Father merely invites us to follow His caring counselling flowing through our thoughts, when danger is hovering nearby leading us into safe pasture.
Our Father will also ask us to assist others in need of His help intervening in their life, when they fail to heed His call to follow His road opening up before them every day they rise from their bed. We will learn through practical experience walking the road of hard knocks, that by perceived coincidence we will also be on receiving end of practical advice, from those directed by Our Father to approach us offering us counselling leading us to reconsider our earlier plans, with another road designed for our well being appearing in our thoughts as if to say, take this direction.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
