but temptation shows us who we are.
~ Thomas a Kempis
Thomas Kempis deftly informs us that our responses to our life's temptations reveals the person we are becoming. It is not lost on each of us when understanding that walking the road of hard knocks is a brutal teaching lesson, only completed at the end of our life's journey.
Our aspirations lead us along our path of self discovery, where we often encounter that which is best avoided. Temptation can also be a teacher of some worth, for it invites us to deal with our perceived human right to say no, to that influential inner voice asking us to walk on by.
Between stimulus and response there is a space.
In that space is our power to choose our response.
In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
~ Viktor E. Frankl
Our faith in God's leadership is a life time's process of self discovery, whereby we learn walking the road of harsh lessons that Our Father stands at our side waiting for us to resume our friendship with Him.
Live as if you were living a second time, and as though you had acted wrongly the first time. ~ Viktor E. Frankl
Owning up to our self destructive decisions is useful therapy, permitting us to rectify our behaviour by acknowledging our reckless choices, leading us back to Our Father's path designed for our well being. Our Father always forgives our transgressions, when we freely choose to return to the path that He opens up for us one day, at a time.
"No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" ~ 1 Corinthians 10:13.
