so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit. ~ John 3:8
Biblical symbolism often utilises the sudden, and unexpected gush of wind to evidence the presence of The Divine Mystery.
The Wind is invisible. We cannot see the wind. In the same way, God’s Spirit is invisible. Jesus made this clear.
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth ~ John 4:24
There will be moments in our life when we will feel, experience the presence of another influence within our thoughts, inspiring us to do that which will lead us into a rewarding journey of self discovery. When we respond implementing that counselling we begin our voyage into the unknown depths of Our Father's invitation to let Him show us the way through our life's story.
The Book of Ecclesiastes 1:14 addresses chasing the wind symbolising the theme of the entire book: “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.” Chasing the wind is metaphor for pursuing futility, leading us to live a life filled with self serving goals.
King Solomon authored Ecclesiastes towards the end of his life reflecting upon lessons learned, when declaring that as his power, influence, and material rewards grew he purposely chose to ignore Our Father's daily counselling, the result of believing that he had single handedly achieved all that he had accumulated. Solomon learned late in the day that seeking meaning through material abundance, and political power was only chasing after the wind.
Vanity leads us into the realm of make believe, where our egotism encourages us to rely entirely upon our narcessistic self conceit that we, and only we are responsible for our perception of success.
Solomon's regal life of opulence, free choice to ignore God's advice, are summed up in his final words: “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil” ~ Ecclesiastes 12:13–14
Thus it may be concluded that any objective that does not have as its aim the furtherance of God’s plan for our life,
is merely chasing after the wind.
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. ...~ Acts 2:1-47
