I quote:
Anguish has taken wing, dispelled is darkness:
for there is no gloom where but now there was distress.
The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom
a light has shone.
end quote
Todays' readings invite each of us to reach out to Our Father, asking for His assistance when our anxieties attempt to turn our life upside, down into a depressed state of mind.
The LORD is my life’s refuge;

Biblical metaphor uses Light to illustrate how best to find our way through the jungle of our life's more turmultous periods, by responding to Our Saviour's call to grasp His hand, thereby enabling Him to lead us safely through our distressing moments into peaceful waters.
Jesus' stroll along the shore of Lake Galilee illustrates His arms outstretched inviting fishermen to embrace Him, that He may lead them through their life's journey of self discovery.

John Henry Newman's: Lead, Kindly Light:
Lead, Kindly Light, amidst th'encircling gloom,
Lead Thou me on!
The night is dark, and I am far from home,
Lead Thou me on!
Keep Thou my feet; I do not ask to see
The distant scene; one step enough for me.
