For now I will relate one encounter with the Divine at Delphi, Greece some twenty years ago, when escorting a cousin (Denise) visiting from Belfast.
After completing most of the tour of the ancient site, beginning with the Ben Hur size stadium at the very peak of the ancient shrine's hill side site, Denise was side lined by an American tourist leaving me to spend a few minutes alone in the centre of the piste of a small amphi-theatre.
Within a couple of minutes an apparition appeared to me some 15 feet away, that of a woman dressed in the costume of an ancient Greek actress bearing the face of the recently deceased Irene Pappas. We conversed through telepathy. She introduced herself to me as Theadora (Dorothy) transliterated as "gift of God." The lady invited me to help her, so she could reciprocate by helping me. To be brief we are discussing the intervention of Divine Wisdom predictably revealed in the feminine form.
As another reference in Homer's classic poems "The Odyssey" the story's hero, Odysseus is guided on his journey from Troy, to Ithaka by "Athina" the ancient Greek goddess of wisdom.
I have well established reputation here for being brief. I shall remain so. In simple language those overwhelming innermost promptings may well encourage us to strike up a dialogue with the Divine Presence enabling us to find our way through our life's journey of self discovery.
The Book of Wisdom 7
22
for Wisdom, the artisan of all, taught me.
Nature and Incomparable Dignity of Wisdom
* For in her is a spirit
intelligent, holy, unique,
Manifold, subtle, agile,
clear, unstained, certain,
Never harmful, loving the good, keen,
23
unhampered, beneficent, kindly,
Firm, secure, tranquil,
all-powerful, all-seeing,
And pervading all spirits,
though they be intelligent, pure and very subtle.
24
For Wisdom is mobile beyond all motion,
and she penetrates and pervades all things by reason of her purity.l
25
* For she is a breath of the might of God
and a pure emanation of the glory of the Almighty;
therefore nothing defiled can enter into her.
26
For she is the reflection of eternal light,
the spotless mirror of the power of God,
the image of his goodness.
27
Although she is one, she can do all things,
and she renews everything while herself perduring;
Passing into holy souls from age to age,
she produces friends of God and prophets.
28
For God loves nothing so much as the one who dwells with Wisdom.
29
For she is fairer than the sun
and surpasses every constellation of the stars.
Compared to light, she is found more radiant;
30
though night supplants light,
wickedness does not prevail over Wisdom.
