I'm a big fan of Raymond Chandler's detective novels, and Hollywood produced film noir popular during the 1940s.
Detectives recognise that clues leading them to solve the mystery before them, are often facing them despite failing to identify their value until that Eureka moment when one clue, after another appears to present themselves as if by chance.
Eureka derived from the Greek word εὕρηκα transliterates as "I have found."
The Three Wise Men, or Magi by a twist of fate meet by chance in Jerusalem where they share their reasons for following a star floating in the night sky. That synchronistic accident may well speak to our own moments when as if by chance we resolve a long festering dilemma that had been causing so much drama over many months, even years.
Whatever is hidden or plain I learned,
for Wisdom, the artisan of all, taught me.
~ The Book of Wisdom 7:21-22
The resolution of our life's challenges is also a matter of timing, for The Three Kings journeying from different countries across The Middle East by perceived chance coordinated their destination (Jerusalem), and arrival times by relying on more than their astrological charts. They understood that they were being inspired by that which was beyond their understanding. The Magi had also read the ancient Hebrew texts (Isaiah) promising the arrival of the King of the Jews with an awareness that this king would be found in Jerusalem.
That interior inspiration would lead The Three Wise men to a cave outside Bethlehelm sheltering a baby wrapped in simple clothing.
Life's mysteries can teach us that, that which we expect can often take on a different appearance to that which our senses had imagined would be. Here The Divine Mystery presents the explorer with the understanding that The Father's plans are not always fully decipherable until the story completes its last chapter.
For Wisdom is mobile beyond all motion,
and she penetrates and pervades all things by reason of her purity.
For she is a breath of the might of God.
~ Wisdom 7:24-25
