Conscience is that irritating tiny voice sitting in the back of our mind intervening with advice encouraging us to treat our neighbours, those with whom we share our life, with the same measure that we expect to be treated by them.
Our Father's leadership enrolls us in His programme of growing self awareness, inviting us to let Him guide us through our life's journey of self discovery. The volunteer relishes the training, growing through the experience of doing all that is asked of us.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, ~ Philippians 2:3
One of the many lessons we learn from those setting the example that we wish to follow, is their easy willingness to let their behaviour become our teacher. Not their words; their actions. Thus, it is never our teacher's perceived rank, or status that influences us to serve one another.
42 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.
43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.
45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
