-a spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble. ~ Albert Einstein
There have been moments in the life of every human person when something within us, another presence within our life intervenes imploring us not to do that which intend. That overpowering influence crying out to us from the very depths of our being, will prove to us that His guidance saved us from committing yet another self defeating act of foolishness.
They travel lightly whom God’s grace carries. ~ Thomas à Kempis
After our free choice to rethink our intentions choosing not to proceed with our earlier self serving decision, relief that we changed our mind settles us sufficiently to understand that following the counselling of our innermost person can be life changing, even life saving.
Grace is stronger than circumstances. ~ J. C. Ryle
God's Grace restrains us, even saves us from our self inflicted follies when we pause before committing to an action, giving time for God's presence in our life to intercede with advice leading us out of temptation. Humility takes its rightful place encouraging us to remain patient with Our Father's plan for our life's journey of self discovery.
The doctrines of grace humble a man without degrading him, and exalt him without inflating him. ~ Charles Hodge
I have never underestimated our absolute need to remain humble in the face of temptation to repay with the same coin those who attempt to humiliate us. Humility is God's gift to all who choose to listen to Him, following His advice not to strike back. Emptying our sense of self importance sufficiently to realise how little we know, and how small we are in relation to The Universe is our free choice to become the pupil of the Teacher, of teachers. Modesty enters our life registering its presence as a patient, and steadfast follower of God's Spirit leading us through our life.
God gives his gifts where he finds the vessel empty enough to receive them. – C. S. Lewis
