Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
During my evening relaxation, and meditation periods my thoughts will lead me down nostalgia lane into my past life meeting with the faces of friends, family, and acquaintances with pleasure. Blissful moments filled with memories are a reminder that the people we have met, and places where we have lived continue to resonate with our sense of joy.
Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plough and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” ~ Luke 9:62
It's often said that our past was much better than our present, when dealing with the challenges currently overwhelming us, driving us into heightened anxiety. Our past cannot be relived, merely recalled to teach us that our life is being lived in the present moment, where we must resolve all that is trying our patience.
“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.” ~ Mother Teresa
Dwelling in our past can become an unhealthy habit devoid of any value when seeking a remedy for the matter causing us so much anguish...today. Having enjoyed my jaunt down memory lane I rise out of my dreaming to face the present, where I discover that my past experiences are present, encouraging me to learn from the lessons that my life thus far is teaching me to deal with today's adversities.
“The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power.” ~ Anon
