not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens.
~ Kahlil Gibran
Our responses to our life's challenges determines the outcome of those adversities that appear to conspire against us. The experienced pioneer of life's misfortunes will readily acknowledge that it through our determination to overcome our troubles that we grow into a wiser, and much more skilful pilgrim of our life's story.
I sought the Lord, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
~ Psalm 34:4
Our Father knows when our despair is too much for us to bear, intervening when we have reached the bottom of a slimy pit, providing us with the means to rescue us from our self imposed perception of defeat.
For he delivers the needy when he calls,
the poor and him who has no helper.
13 He has pity on the weak and the needy,
and saves the lives of the needy.
14 From oppression and violence he redeems their life,
and precious is their blood in his sight.
~ Psalm 72:12-14
I often cite here Homer's, Odyssey to illustrate the absolute importance of listening too, and following the advice of our interior person known to us as The Saviour. Odysseus depended upon the wise advice of Athena, as he understood the divine presence in his life. Time, after time Odysseus suceeded in extricating himself from near disaster by rigorously following the counselling his interior life provided for his well being.
“Behold the Kingdom of God is within you.” ~ Luke 17:21
When facing what appears to be overwhelming odds calculated to overwhelm us, Our Father asks us to speak with Him that He may offer us a way out of our tribulation, thereby encouraging us to trust Him in all matters no matter how large, or small they may appear to us.
You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.
~Isaiah 26:3
