so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit
~ John 3:8
The curious person looks for rational explanations when what appears as an inexplicable event encourages them to look behind the curtain.
The wind blows where it wishes. Nobody can guide its direction. The same is true of the Spirit of God. He works in His unique way.
No one is able to understand the wherewithal behind the power of God manifesting His presence through an invisible force that we call the wind.
Who has understood the mind of the LORD, or instructed him as his counsellor? ~ Isaiah 40:13
Wise sages tell us that those events appearing out of the blue, are best understood through their influence on the beneficiary rather than in any attempt to fathom the modus operandi of the miraculous. In other words rather than question the cause of that bizarre happenchance, best recognise the outcome of the gift on those receiving the power granted to them to serve The Father's plan for their life.
The wind, and breath of life are more often, or not viewed in the same light representing as they do the power of the divine presence. Although one cannot see the wind, the results can be seen and felt. The same is true of the Holy Spirit. Although He cannot be seen, the results of His work can be experienced when we acknowledge the presence of The Counsellor guiding us through our life's journey of self discovery. We know from our daily experience that we are being led, and counselled how best to live our life...each, and every day we rise from our bed.
Paul of Tarsus wrote to the Corinthians.
But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills ~ 1 Corinthians 12:11
Pope Francis addresses the misgivings of many, unwilling to accept The Spirit of God's invitation to walk with Him until their journey's completion.
To put it simply: the Holy Spirit bothers us. Because he moves us, he makes us walk, he pushes the Church to go forward. And we are like Peter at the Transfiguration: 'Ah, how wonderful it is to be here like this, all together!' ... But don't bother us. We want the Holy Spirit to doze off ... we want to domesticate the Holy Spirit. And that's no good. because he is God, he is that wind which comes and goes and you don't know where. He is the power of God, he is the one who gives us consolation and strength to move forward. But: to move forward! And this bothers us. It's so much nicer to be comfortable. — Pope Francis
