28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
I am often asked how best to create a peaceful life, without taking medication such as Prozac, numbing the pain arising from life's daily conflicts. Easy answers are predictably discovered in self help books. In other words I am unable to offer a simple remedy to the troubles that every human person must encounter, to grow us into mature adults; a life long process of self discovery.
Meditation does not require the participation of music, or special clothing; not even insense, or a candle. Patience sitting comfortably in an armchair, or bed, or laying flat on ones couch provides sufficient ambience to open up to those thoughts that float to the surface enabling us to face our fears by disussing with Our Saviour all that is troubling us.
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. ~ Isaiah 26
Surrendering ones life into the care of Our Saviour does not require the aspirant to enter a convent, or a monastery.
Trust in our inner person's words whispering into our thoughts, begins a dialogue leading to the beginning of a fruitful relationship couselling us how best to resolve those matters trying our patience.
Over my time posting here I have invited the reader to spend a little time, every day alone, and in silence lost in ones thoughts. No radio. No television, and definitely no telephone. My prescription for most of my patients is never medication, rather a full dose of meditation for some one hour day, by day over a period of one month until their next visit with me to reflect on progress, and answer questions.
Meditation, or contemplation does not require set prayers merely a willingness to discuss matters with our greatest friend, spilling the beans on all that we need to discuss with Our Saviour close, and open to hearing all that we need to reveal to The One we trust to offer us His wise advice in all matters that are disturbing us. Lead Kindly Light.
“We need no wings to go in search of Him, but have only to look upon Him present within us.” ~ Teresa of Avila
