Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
Remaining patient in the face of frustrating, even overwhelming trials is linked to perseverance, and consciously trying to regulate our emotions leading to rising levels of self control. Patience is essential to our daily life, even key to growing a happy, and fulfilling life.
Patience encourages us to wait calmly in the face of frustration when our sense of timing demands immediate results dealing with our daily difficulties. Patience is hope, realised by focusing on resolving those issues that try our patience, knowing that the end result will guarantee us peace of mind.
Our sense of timing can, and does divert our focus from our aspirations. The wise person learns from day, to day experience that patiently dealing with all that tries our belief that we can succeed, is the key to realising our goals.
Patient people are more disposed to experience much less depressing episodes, and negative emotions, being better able to cope with upsetting, or stressful situations. Patience builds our sense of gratitude for the gifts of life, appreciating the little we receive, sufficient for our needs. Our patience constructs a more cooperative, more empathic, more equitable, and more forgiving person focused on recognising the needs of others, much less fortunate than oneself.
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. – Peter 3:8-9
