7 Do not be fooled: You cannot cheat God. People harvest only what they plant. 8 If they plant to satisfy their sinful selves, their sinful selves will bring them ruin. But if they plant to please the Spirit, they will receive eternal life from the Spirit. 9 We must not become tired of doing good. We will receive our harvest of eternal life at the right time if we do not give up. 10 When we have the opportunity to help anyone, we should do it.
Here we are reminded of the so called Karma principle of what goes round, comes round taught to me in my primary school days by my teacher Bertie Reynolds, and war veteran who was convinced that as a result of bending down to bandage the leg of a wounded pal, by apparent good fortune he avoided a hail of machine gun fire.
The wise inform us that our luck is loaned, never owned leading me to understand that when God throws a dice it is always loaded with His plan, tailor made for the recipient benefiting from Our Father's grace.
The cynic will argue that randomness is a feature of our life's journey of self discovery, manifesting its interventions in our life by sheer chance, or if you wish in quantum mechanics terms nothing can be certain, and we can only describe things in terms of probabilities. When those moments of good fortune, or even ill fortune nudge us as if to say, take note and learn your lesson, there is the thought that there is more to the lessons we are experiencing than chance theories would have us believe. In other words ill fortune also serves us, encouraging us to change the way we live our life.
Chance is a word void of sense; nothing can exist without a cause. ~ Voltaire
