A man reaps what he sows. 8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up
Cause, and effect may well teach us that our decisions decide our fate day, by day. Our Buddhist brethren speak of the karma principle governing our choices. The entire question of causality is so complex that without our free choice to relate to The Father's plan for our life we descend into a pit of endless speculation.
Because reasoning about causes and effects is a very difficult thing, and I believe the only judge of that can be God. We are already hard put to establish a relationship between such an obvious effect as a charred tree and the lightning bolt that set fire to it, so to trace sometimes endless chains of causes and effects seems to me as foolish as trying to build a tower that will touch the sky. \ Umberto Eco
I can relate to Umberto Eco's understandings that in our relationship with the divine mystery it is always best to take one step at a time, rather than attempt to speculate on our life's story until its completion. One simple fact that I can attest too, is that our sacrifices serving Our Father's plan for our life are rewarding.
Biblical metaphor assists us appreciate that planting time is life affirming work obliging us to sacrifice our time, and effort in anticipation of reaping a harvest filled with the rewards that feed our dreams sufficient to keep on planting. Sowing our investment in our life's journey of self discovery provides us with a growing awareness that our odyssey introduces us to those with whom we will share our passage through time. Thus the planting season also reveals to us, all that makes our voyage through life worth living for.
The alternative to sacrificing to enact Our Father's plan into our life, is self service offering short term benefits filled with all that assuages the need of the senses to be satisfied with the passing allure of ...look, who I am.
10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. ~ 2 Corinthians
