I quote
The Lord sets the captives free
end quote
Today's readings emphasise the healings carried out by The Saviour.
That the blind will see, and the deaf will hear is also metaphor for opening our senses to new life in the care of Our Saviour.
My quotation also speaks to the liberation of the Israelites from enslavement in Egypt, to be led into a new land flowing with milk, and honey. Moses understood that he was being led by The Father, into a new life with Our Father taking care of all our needs...
...when we do all that is asked of us.
Jesus invites His audiences to follow Him, that they may be set free from their self serving life. Most people want security, not freedom. Our Father provides for all our needs, releasing us from our self imposed cell, worrying whether we have sufficient means to eat, and pay the rent.
Our growing confidence in the leadership of Our Saviour takes us a life time. It is a daily act of faith in God's friendship. Each of us will be asked to participate in the plan that The Father grants every human person, His children brought to life to become His loving outreach into lives of the human family.
The LORD has anointed me; He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the lowly, to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners.
~ Isaiah 61:1
