I quote:
Jesus said to them,
“I am the bread of life;
whoever comes to me will never hunger,
and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”
end quote
Our life sustaining nutrition is not the unleavened bread of the Exodus, or the manna of the wilderness, or the bread of the presence in the Temple.
The real presence in our life, is The Christ.
Scripture is filled with symbolism providing the reader with the understanding that feeding the faithful person, is not limited to that which fills our stomach. All our needs are addressed by our greatest friend supplying all that we will ever need to reveal The Father's plan for our life.
“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” ~ John 7:38
Our heart also performs a symbolic role revealing our need to be loved, and loved in return demonstrating that the human condition is not limited to flesh, blood, and self absorption.
When our heart speaks we will understand that our attention moves from self service, to sharing our life, and its provisions with another, or others who by Our Father's design enter our orbit. God's plans for our life persist sufficiently to open our heart that it may fulfil its purpose.
“There is no safe investment. To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket – safe, dark, motionless, airless – it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. The alternative to tragedy, or at least to the risk of tragedy, is damnation. The only place outside Heaven where you can be perfectly safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love is Hell.” ~ C. S. Lewis
