About one hour ago, over cocoa at our village tavern, I was asked how God could be three persons.
I replied that my dad, and mum were their parents children, and the grandchildren of their grandparents. My parents were raised with siblings my aunts, and uncles. My father, and my mother remained who they were despite their different roles relative to other members of the family.
One of my tavern companions, Ioannis insisted that I offer my listeners a theological appreciation of The Trinity.
I replied that we can only know Our Father when in relationship with Him. There is no other way of knowing God.
Ioannis persisted (he is our local dentist) by asking me why I was avoiding addressing his question. My response was short, and polite when reminding him that ones intellectual prowess does not reveal The Trinity in our life. Our humility is a beginning, when acknowledging that we do not know, nor can we ever know the innermost secrets of our creator. The Divine Mystery is that which is...I am, who I am.
