I quote:
"O woman, great is your faith! "
end quote
Today's Gospel is an invitation to remain patient when coping with our life's more distressing periods.
A woman seeking help for her mentally distressed daughter, persists in her requests for assistance from The Saviour. Timing is the factor that surfaces in this story. We expect our cries for help to be answered immediately. Our Father's timing is always calibrated perfectly to provide the response that does much more than resolve the immediate matter causing us so much anxiety. This is the moment when Our Father asks us to continue to believe that His intervention to assist us, will become a life long love story when we choose to accept His invitation to trust Him all days of our life in all matters, not just those periods when we have no one else to turn too to help us deal with an apparently overwhelming dilemma.
I have listened to many stories told my those who facing a life threatening adversity asked Our Saviour for help, leading to their dilemma being resolved, and the birth of a life building relationship with Our Father.
What we understand to be a slow response is not due to The Father not hearing us, rather Our Father asking us to remain patient, enabling us to endure our misfortunes with fortitude knowing that The Father provides each of us with a tailor made remedy.
“ But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
