18 Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
We cannot move ahead when constantly looking to the past, as if to say that's where I am living. Our past constantly inspires us to learn its lessons, rather than becoming an anchor embedding us in its...what if I had taken the other road. Regrets change nothing, for they hinder our free choice to learn from our experiences, that by changing our circumstances the result of following our interior guidance, we can transform our life to better reveal the road ahead that Our Father invites us to walk.
Living by faith in God's Word speaking to us within our conscious understanding, provides the trusting traveller with a compass leading us into better days.
We are mirrors whose brightness is wholly derived from the sun that shines upon us. C.S Lewis
The question that often arises is how do we discern the difference between being driven by our fears, our desires, our wants, our self serving ambitions...and Our Father inviting us to embrace His friendship, enabling Him to lead us out of the dilemmas that daily arrive on our doorstep.
When our choice is self serving we are rejecting the advice offered by Our Father. The faithful friend of The Saviour learns through experience that the divine mystery works His loving endeavours through those who faithfully follow His Word, to do all that He asks of us. Inevitably this will entail sacrifice of the ambitions that we believe are essential to our success to be replaced by contentment, and joy the result of having taken the road that Our Father provides for us to walk.
The Past is frozen and no longer flows, and the Present is all lit up with eternal rays. C.S Lewis
