Holy is derived from whole, or complete person just as saint is derived from the French word, santé related to health, or being healthy.
Way back in the late sixties, early seventies I was (and remain) a big fan of Shaw Bros., Hong Kong Kung fu films that more often, or not included references to the (Buddhist) Shaolin Temple. The monastery abbot would teach his pupils that the ideal student must discover the road leading to balance between heaven, and earth otherwise known to the Catholic as The Spirit, and the flesh. Despite using different wording the world's great religions share a common understanding when the divine mystery is under discussion.
Wholeness, or completeness is never a singular occasion, thus we may understand that being born again is never an event, it is a process that takes the faithful person a life time to reveal, always with the constructive guidance of The Holy Spirit. That revelation of The Spirit is a journey of self discovery leading the faithful person day, by day to rely more, and more on the intervention of The Spirit of God.
A second question inquired whether the holy person needed to wear a religious habit, and live a religious life as commonly understood in monastic communities.
Our Father has a plan for every human person.
In other words our inner inspiration, or intuitive guidance will guide us to reveal all that Our Father plans for our life.
A humble knowledge of ourselves is a surer way to God than is the search for depth of learning. ~ Thomas Kempis
