Visiting the great churches of Europe there is an awareness that their decorations, without exception include a statuette of a well respected local cleric, (1) on the receiving end of advice from a soaring white dove. In works of art God's Spirit is depicted as a dove, or tongue of fire resting above the head of the recipient of divine wisdom.
The ego has a well established track record constructing a barrier between those who think they know, and those who need to know being well aware of their poverty in all matters. Hearing, leading to listening diminishes the influence of the ego, sufficiently for The Spirit of God to do His work leading us out of our self absorption, to serve the common good.
When we finally acknowledge that we have much to learn, knowing well how impoverished we are, a light begins to lead us out of our darkness, leading us kindly light.
Experience teaches many that it is when we have reached the bottom of a slimy pit filled with self pity, that we reach out asking for help appearing as if by chance, providing us with the remedy out of our self imposed misery.
Ask early in the day, for Our Father's assistance is waiting for all who call upon His loving help.
