I quote:
Christ became obedient to the point of death,
even death on a cross.
because of this, God greatly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name which is above every name.
end quote
When Jesus entered Jerusalem astride a donkey He knew that the people cheering His arrival, within the following week would respond to Pontius Pilate's invitation to release Barabbas, or Jesus by choosing to save the life of a convicted murderer over the peace maker, Jesus of Nazareth.
The will of the people is often viewed as a reckoning defining that which serves the common good. It is also arguable that mob values may well represent all that the popular hero, represented by Barabbas can elicit to support notions of strength through use of extreme violence, over the perceived weakness of a humble man calling each of us to love our neighbour, that we in our turn may be loved.
