Paul of Tarsus was a rising star in The Sanhedrin, a gifted intellectual imbued with a tenacious passion to stop the rise of The Nazarenes, that had grown more powerful following the death of their leader one Jesus of Nazareth known for being a harmless, simple labourer who had spent much of His time preaching love, and forgiveness of those who harm us.
Paul's journey to Damascus would turn his world upside down when learning that his academic prowess would count for nothing in the face of The Saviour requesting nothing more than our love, and trust in His Word speaking to us, of His loving care for all who follow His guidance.
“Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him.

but the Lord looks at the heart.” ~ 1 Samuel 16
Jesus' apostles also included fisherman, men who worked with their hands for a living.
They were not academics, or people in power and authority.
They were simple folk who were called by the Lord Himself, men who just put down their nets and followed.
It is when we embrace our reality that we do not know it all, and can never know all there is to know, that we begin to understand how little we know enabling us to hear, and listen to The Saviour asking us to follow Him.
Neither shall they say: Behold here, or behold there. For lo, the kingdom of God is within you. ~ Luke 17:21
