Imagination... its limits are only those of the mind itself ~ Matt Serling
Scripture invites us to reflect on those moments when life saving advice sows its inspiration into the thoughts of people with ears to hear, eyes that see beyond limits imposed by the senses; people with a mission to deliver good news, to all who are prepared to act with a purpose on foresight inspiring them to believe, and act with a willingness to do all that is asked of them.
The Escape to Egypt
13 After the wise men had gone, an angel from the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up! Hurry and take the child and his mother to Egypt! Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herod is looking for the child and wants to kill him.”
14 That night, Joseph got up and took his wife and the child to Egypt, 15 where they stayed until Herod died. So the Lord’s promise came true, just as the prophet had said, “I called my son out of Egypt.” ~ Matthew 2
Dreaming by night, or day leads us into a boundary free world where all appears possible, where the limitations imposed by our sense of reality, are replaced by a timeless journey expanding our understandings of all that is possible, then to implement into our daily life all that had inspired us to take a trip into the unknown; that creative zone alive, in the lives of everyone who dares to dream, and believe that Our Father speaks to us, to: do as I ask.
The Return from Egypt
19 After King Herod died, an angel from the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph while he was still in Egypt. 20 The angel said, “Get up and take the child and his mother back to Israel. The people who wanted to kill him are now dead.”
21 Joseph got up and left with them for Israel. 22 But when he heard that Herod’s son Archelaus was now ruler of Judea, he was afraid to go there. Then in a dream he was told to go to Galilee, 23 and they went to live there in the town of Nazareth. So the Lord’s promise came true, just as the prophet had said, “He will be called a Nazarene.” ~ Matthew 2
Inspiration is the very foundation of our life's quest to go out and create; creating a life worth our time living to die for. The Author of our life merely invites us to recognise His presence at our side, when He nudges us into avoiding that pot hole, to take a safer route, a path better able to demonstrate His plan for our life's betterment.
“I dream my painting and I paint my dream.” ― Vincent Willem van Gogh
It has been said, and often by wise sages down the centuries that genius is God's way of introducing us to His joy, by providing us with all that we will ever need to make the lives of our fellow travellers worth their while being our friends, and neighbours participating in the gifts that Divine Providence grants to all who share their good fortune with those Our Father introduces to us, that they may also sup at His dining table, His reward for having embraced His friendship alive, in the lives of all who: follow me, doing all that I ask.
Deuteronomy 5:33 Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.
It is difficult for the dreamer to face off against the senses rejecting any thought that there is another life, living alongside that which stares back at us from our mirror image of who we believe we are. The narrow thinking hyper rationalist will rightly reject any notion that their responses to life's challenges can be resolved by inspirations appearing in their dreams, that is until faced with an overwhelming misfortune that defeats their attempts to resolve...until suddenly out of the blue, so to speak a solution seeds itself into their conscious awareness leading them out of their sense of desperation, into a land filled with infinite possibilities that hitherto had been obscured by their self imposed short sightedness.
14 For God does speak—now one way, now another— though no one perceives it. 15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they slumber in their beds, 16 he may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings, 17 to turn them from wrongdoing and keep them from pride, 18 to preserve them from the pit, their lives from perishing by the sword. ~ Job 33
