“What day is it?” asked Pooh.
“It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.
“My favourite day,” said Pooh.”

The Saviour expressed the importance of being present in the moment when speaking in parables. That of the sower in Matthew 13, Jesus speaks about seeds being sown -- a few land on rocky ground, others among thorns, and still others on fertile soil.
Those seeds (people with potential growth) sown on rocky ground hear God's Word but fall away at the first sign of trouble for they have no roots. Seeds that fall among thorns yield nothing the result of becoming caught up in the cares of the world neglecting God's Word. The seeds that fall on fertile soil bear fruit -- having listened to The Word, and implemented His request to do all that He asks.
The metaphor used in this parable speaks wisely of our choices, decisions that can provide us with a future filled with good reason to thank God for having granted us a life worth living.
Those who live in the future live on rocky ground -- they have no roots. They are always thinking about "one day" when they will be happy, "one day" when they will have abundance, "one day" when they will have the perfect partner. Still others find themselves preoccupied with the past where they live in thoughts of what was. Those who live in the present moment hearing The Father's Word inviting us to do all that He asks, are rewarded with roots that reach deep into the good earth, with Divine Providence feeding them with all that they will need to accomplish The Father's plan for their life.
Don’t worry about tomorrow. It will take care of itself. You have enough to worry about today. ~ Matthew 6:34
Life lived in the present moment guarantees that each of us can start afresh, each day we rise from our bed, to embrace The Word calling us to follow Him all the days of our life.
“… I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days …”
~ (Deuteronomy 30:19)
