“Prosperity knits a man to the world. He feels that he is finding his place in it, while really it is finding its place in him.” ~ C. S. Lewis
Prosperity is also a matter of perspective for there is the thought that sufficient, is enough for the few content to share their excess with the many lacking the barest essentials. It is then that prosperity reveals its true purpose, that of filling the empty cup of the orphan brought into our orbit to share in our abundant harvest.
The feeding of the five thousand is poetic justice for those who willingly listen, and act on the guidance of The Son alive in our life, inviting us to serve at His banqueting table.
The Servant merely asks us to serve others, that we in our turn, may also be served by The Servant.
“ For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” – Mark 10:45
“For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.” – Luke 22:27
Here lies a dilemma for prosperity can appear to represent the success of a wealthy person, whereas Divine Providence can remove its generous gifts from those who are self serving. How often do the mighty fall for want of understanding that their bowl of plenty is granted to them for the purpose of serving its provisions to guests waiting at Our Father's dining table
“Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
-Matthew 20:25-28
