“God does not love us because we are valuable. We are valuable because God loves us.”~ Fulton Sheen
On one of my regular strolls down nostalgia lane, late in the evening faces, names, events surface to remind me of those moments when a coincidence of some impact unexpectedly persuaded me to change my direction. Chance encounters are often just that, until we reflect on that meeting, recognising that there can be much more to chance than the casual nature of that incident that led us to change our way.
Patterns are often cast aside as nothing more than yet another coincidence in a series of coincidences, or chance meetings that randomly occur to many people.
Why should those accidental occurrences be anything more than yet another chance encounter?
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. ~ Proverbs 19:21
When man resists, God persists.
Free will is God's gift to every human person evidencing that we are free to accept God's plan and implement it into our life, or reject God's call to let Him guide us through our life. Our choices create consequences for which we are responsible.
We should appreciate that what we choose to understand when faced with a pattern of coincidences is not nature being itself, but nature exposed to our method of questioning, and understanding leading us to the predictable question, does God play dice with His children?
Rationalising ones relationship with the divine mystery is often a matter of reasoning the probability of coincidence being more, or less a matter of chance when faced with gentle hints, or nudges pointing us in a particular direction. Reason enough to keep questioning the phenomena that we are experiencing that our doubts may be addressed, thereby ensuring that our faith can grow, and deepen the result of being satisfied that we are not becoming delusional.
The enterprising explorer will be much more open to taking perceived chances, when those matters of chance develop a pattern that cannot be ignored, inviting us to accept the invitation offered to us by Our Father to sup at His dining table/
Faith in ones freely chosen decision to step out in faith, is never lost on those who on taking the first step, learn that certainty is a matter of growing trust in that which leads us through the ebb, and flow of our life's journey. In other words with time, and experience trust develops into reliance upon the divine presence whose only request is to let Him become our most beloved friend.
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ~Jeremiah 29
