Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
A superiority complex is never the stuff that cements good relationships between people, for it presumes to lord it over those it believes justifies its judgments, sufficiently to distinguish between their impressions of self importance versus the rest of the herd.

Jesus' parable on The Publican, and the Tax Collector illustrates the perceptions of those who believe that their obsessive dedication to serving laws grants them a special status above, and beyond that of those they determine are beneath them.
Jesus reminds those who listen to Him that every human being is flawed and in need of God's salvation, more so those who believe that their legalistic devotions some how raises their profile before God.
I quote from the captioned Biblical verses Luke 18:9-14 :
14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
