Fatalism is a response to feelings of inadequacy and loss of control of ones life. Imagining a scapegoat provides the suffering person with an excuse justifying their sense of failure and resulting depression. Ancient Greek mythology speaks of the Fates, three goddesses perceived as weavers of the fate of human life. Their decisions could not be cancelled even by other gods.
Free will enables every human person to make decisions based upon our choices, decisions that carry consequences for our self improvement, or self destruction. Here lies the dilemma for many when life appears to be going well they claim it is the result of their choices, and actions affirming their sense of well being. When life fails to deliver and matters spiral out of control the blame game begins.
Being held accountable for our choices is evident when we are faced with an unrelenting pressure from within our very being asking us to walk this path, and not the road that our vanity demands we select to feather our nest at the expense of those who naively trust our advice. Those doubts that emerge from within our interior being invite us to pause, and consider an alternative route designed to serve the common good.
The beginning of wisdom is found in doubting; by doubting we come to the question, and by seeking we may come upon the truth.
~Pierre Abelard
Doubt seeds its questions within our conscious awareness inviting us to take time, to remain patient in the face of our vanity demanding our immediate action. Those doubts are sown into our understandings by our greatest friend, The One who invites us to trust Him to lead us through the ebbs, and flows of our life's passage through time.
“Be not faithless, but believing” ~ John 20:27
Believing leads to trusting in Our Father's love for us, knowing that He loves each of us, as if we are the only person alive to follow His advice. Hearing, listening, and following Our Father's guidance on any matter requires the faithful person to deny their self serving ways, to serve The Father's plan especially tailored for each and every human person.
Life is what happens to us while we are making other plans ~ Allen Saunders
Our Father's love for us invites each of us to reciprocate His love for us, by enacting into our life all that He asks of us, in so doing delivering to us a life filled with peace, joy, and contentment.
The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. - Zephaniah 3:17
