Luke 6
38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
The Father invites us to share our abundance with those He sends to us to participate in the banquet prepared for all who share our/their good fortune. The gifts that we receive are merely loaned to us that we may in our turn share with those who as if by chance appear in our life.
“Freely you have received, freely give.”~Matthew 10:8
Feeding the crowds gathered to listen to Jesus often provoked The Saviour's sceptics, and critics also present to amuse themselves with their supercilious abuse of Jesus' followers, to speculate how the crazy rabbi would satisfy the hunger of the thousands waiting on His words of life.
When Jesus invited Simon Peter to let Him navigate his fishing boat to plentiful fishing grounds on Lake Galilee, Simon's scepticism surrendered to his belief that he had nothing to lose by trusting Jesus' directions. Simon's faith was rewarded with a rich catch, not lost on those ashore witnesses to the rewards that accrue to those who share their good fortune with the needy.
Our Father ensures that His faithful children are never reduced to penury when sharing their/our abundance with those He sends to us to participate in His banquet, there being a growing awareness among His trusting friends, that Divine Providence measures its gifts to benefit those who share, with those in need.
Matthew 25
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
