You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
Way back in my primary school days I recall the lesson learned by Scotland's, Robert the Bruce watching the antics of a spider attempting to move from one wooden beam, to another using its silvery thread to leap. On its seventh attempt the spider succeeded.
Robert was close to despair when the spider's determination to succeed inspired the Scottish king never to surrender to his fear of failing to realise his objectives. Robert the Bruce fought against the English invaders for the next eight years, defeating them, driving them out of Scotland in 1314, following the Battle of Bannockburn.
Each of us faces moments when we resign ourselves to our self imposed fate, there being an unwillingness to pursue our dreams for fear of failing. Enduring the hardships that accompany our journeys of self discovery is the payment we receive for daring to try and succeed.
True life is lived when tiny changes occur.~ Leo Tolstoy
Step, by step we make our way leading the explorer of life's mysteries through a labyrinth into unknown regions beyond, the beyond puzzling the inquiring mind sufficiently to want to discover what lies behind the next bend in the road as if to say, follow me into your future.
The journey leading to our self discovery is an enthralling adventure conveniently timed to offer us rest stops, inns along our way into tomorrow's chapter of our life's ongoing story where we reflect on our yesterdays, while contemplating whatever waits for us when our odyssey reveals more of tomorrow's route into unchartered territory.
When listening patiently to our inner self we soon realise that its words can be trusted to lead us out of the difficulties that our poor choices create, onto a path that rewards us with a life inspiring adventure through our time. The wise gradually grow an awareness that the inner person is a reliable friend, devoted to serving all our needs, assisting those who we meet along the path designed to fulfil our reason for being who we are becoming.
A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless. We find that after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us.~ John Steinbeck
