Way, way back during my primary school years a teacher, or two would bang their desk demanding the attention of their pupils predictably chatting among ourselves. Good manners ensured that our silence was the instantaneous result leading us to hear, and listen to the teacher's every word.
And he said to them, “Pay attention to what you hear: with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you.~Mark 4:24
The divine mystery tactfully inspires our attention when we least expect, there being an unwillingness among many of us to pay attention to that delicate whisper weaving its way through our thoughts, inviting us to take another path into a life filled with wonder, and reward born out of our sacrifices for those who we meet on our journey into the beyondness of things to come.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference
~Robert Frost
Many people journey through life on automatic pilot without thought for the alternative, and much more rewarding path that The Father offers all who accept His invitation, to let Him become our travelling companion.
There is a tide in the affairs of men.
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures.
~William Shakespeare
Those of us who accept the invitation of the divine mystery to let Him take our hand, and lead us through our life's story never lose our sense of direction, there being a growing awareness that in the midst of our trials there is a loving presence at our side, asking us to remain patient while our life's story unfolds its plan tailored to grow us into a wiser explorer of life's mysteries.
In response to the Ego's perception that we are worthy of compensation for our deeds Our Father constantly rewards us by pruning our sense of accomplishment during those moments when all appears lost in a fog of unknowing.
A seasoned explorer learns through experience that there will be times when life appears to ignore our request for more rewarding adventures. It is during those moments of darkness, and despair that our greatest friend whispers into our ears pleading with us to remain patient until our life's next chapter opens its pages for us to resume our voyage of self discovery.
Eventually all things fall into place. Until then, laugh at the confusion, live for the moments, and know everything happens for a reason.~Albert Schweitzer
