Again, Jesus had a chance to make this point to those who would stone the woman. According to them, they had a legitimate obligation to stone the woman; they may have even argued that it was demanded by scripture and tradition.

Jesus' priorities were clear. He chose mercy, forgiveness and compassion over instruction, counsel and admonishment.

(Ironically, he did this after doodling in the sand. Mercy built on sand? )
