Earlier this year I asked the SC community if anyone could make a kimono for my BJD, Ichiko. Yuko Waugh, who comes from a family of professional (human sized) kimono-makers, primarily makes kimono for Gene, Trent, Tonner dolls and Licca, but she agreed to try to make them for Ichiko. I bought fabric in Japan years ago with the idea of having doll kimonos made from it. I am thrilled with the result and so I wanted to show you her beautiful work in case you've ever wanted to get kimono made for your dolls. (In case you do, you can reach Yuko at yunew05077@gmail.com.) For those of you who don't know her, Yuko is just the nicest person!

Congrats!! I love the Trent kimono that I got from Yu New! I get so many compliments on it.

She made 4 kimono, 2 casual and 2 more formal. Each with a different style of obi and beautiful fabric. I couldn’t have been happier with the results, they are perfectly created even at that miniature scale.
My dolls are by Phicen, only 6 “ tall with totally bendable bodies. Yunew really saved the day as I was having a very difficult time finding someone willing to sew for a doll that small.

School two hours late. No morning Kindergarten.

I agree. I also bought some pieces from yunew. Excellent quality!

You can't really tell from my lousy photography but the fit on these kimonos is perfect. Yuko's attention to detail is second to none. For instance, she laid out the fabric with the cherry blossom pattern in such a way as to have the blossoms cascading down Ichiko's shoulder.
