I wonder if keeping the face and neck warm was enough for comfort? Those long slender lines look good, but there was nothing but the wool fabric to keep the body warm.
On the other hand, wool has been keeping creatures warm forever and humans warm for about 8,000 years. That's when people began to spin wool into yarn for knitting and weaving.
I remember winter coats with interlining of cotton, as well as the regular satin lining, so maybe they were quite all right with their slender coats!
It's 8 degrees F here in NJ, going to reach 20 if we're lucky. Hopefully, the cold weather will go away by next week. I don't mind winter being winter, but these single digit days keep me stuck at home.
