It’s all about Madame Gres this morning! When the door opened at 9am, we were greeted with these absolutely stunning fashions, each a re-creation of a Madame Gres design. I love this coat dress, so much detail in the white collar and sleeves!    My photos didn’t capture how beautiful these fashions are, especially this one, with the elegant pale pink bodice and black skirt. The skirt has some heart shaped appliqués. I’ll post a better pic next time.   The centerpiece was designed by Mainbocher for Wallis Simpson, who was a client of Gres. It was very popular, and there weren’t any extras.   Sandra gave a presentation on Madame Gres’s early years, and then it was time for the unboxing!    The room went a little crazy! I absolutely love this structured suit by Madame Gres! The “fur” collar in the dress is removable, as is I the ribbon detail on the matching coat. The fabric is from London, and it has some silver metallic detail. Gorgeous! We have a short break, and then it’s time for lunch at 11:30. See you after! Jennifer |
