Sorry to say I won't be going to Sandra's convention next week even though it's only 7 hours from here to Atlanta. I'm a superstitious old guy about some things though. I lived in Atlanta in the early 80's but had a mishap that altered my life in a blink. I was coming out of the MARTA station on 10th Avenue, near the intersection of Peachtree, and a small red Mercedes sportscar crossed all lanes and came up on the sidewalk behind me. Never even saw it coming. Would not know anything about the car except witnesses told the cops. Later, the police told me there was a wave hitting the city of kids really running people over for 'points' Disgusting. Anyway... they never found my left shoe and the left leg was only hanging on with some skin. Took me to Grady Memorial and allowed them to do some experimental stuff to save it instead of amputation. Told I would probably never walk again and was in traction for 19 months before even getting into a cast and re-learning how to walk. Still on two legs to this day although gimpier with each passing year. So the point of this long-winded story is this. I was run over about 15 feet from the spot Margaret Mitchell was run over and killed. There is a historical marker there in her memory. So if you pass by that, think of me. I'd love to be there, miss seeing all of you but there's no way in hell I'll ever set foot in Atlanta again, lol
