Some help for preserving fragile vnyl/faux leather… Archived Message

I recently acquired the lovely Bright Day outfit, and while deboxing and getting ready to dress one of my girls in something new, I realized that the sweet pink and white spectators were sadly going the way of so many old vinyl accessories. It seemed like if I merely looked at them they started to peel.

The heel cap and strap sadly were beyond any help, but the front was still fragile but in one piece. I was pondering how to somehow stabilize the vinyl and remembered that I had a Coconix vnyl and leather repair kit sitting around. I brushed some of the white over the white portion of the spectator. Once it dries, it will bond to the vinyl and also be flexible.

The heel portion was also to disintegrated to save, but I plan to clean, spray paint that and then reassemble the shoe, making them mules instead of strap shoes.

Just thought I would pass on these tips in case anyone else is dealing with a similar situation. Good luck!
