    F is for doll FRIENDS from over the years;;;pic heavy! Archived Message

    Up until 2009, all of my doll friends were virtual through e-mail or sites like the HLAYG Yahoo Group...then in 2009, I attended my first in-person Gene event and finally met Mel in person (the 2009 Gene Tour in Chicago)...then I attended my first Gene convention in 2010 and finally met some of my favorite doll people in person! But this was also the LAST Gene convention (or so we thought).

    Lucky for me, George moved back to the Chicago area before launching his first JamieShow Gene convention (Le Jazz Hot). Eric and I stayed in Chicago for that one. However, since we live just a short train ride away, we continued attending every year, but stayed in the comforts of home at night! The East Meets West convention is particularly special to me...Vince Nowell came and stayed with us for a week...and since many people wanted the new character, Luna Li, but did not want the expense of traveling, I was able to enlist the help of several real life friends from church to act as proxies that year...


    I attended my first SSP event in 2012, Radio Days...then started back as an absentee with BONO and ES...finally returning in person for SL and continuing to the present...so, I get to enjoy many fellow Gene and doll enthusiasts each year in person at SSP...

    So, here are some shared memories from over the years...sadly, some people have transitioned away from this realm...if you see yourself, be sure to wave!
