Dear Fellow Gene Fans,
It is with great sadness & regret that I share with you the recent passing in mid March of our dear friend Barb in IL (Barb Fields).
Barb & I got to know each other online though the AD Gene around 1997. And we finally met in person when I moved back to Chicagoland eight years ago. The photo below was taken in 2019 at a JAMIEshow doll event that featured a limited edition Gene resin doll named Confetti. ❤️
Barb & I made plans to celebrate her birthday earlier this month, possibly heading into Chicago for her favorite pizza from Gino’s East, but sadly it didn’t happen.
Barb loved the vintage Hollywood era that the Gene Marshall doll & her fellow doll cast mates (Madra Lord, Violet, Trent Osborne, Ivy Jordan, Zita Charles, Oona, & Luna Li) represented. She adored dressing her dolls in lavish gowns, & setting up special seasonal displays at her local library.
She loved going to meetings of our local IL Fashion Doll Club, and was especially looking forward to the planned meeting to see the upcoming Downton Abbey film.
In addition to her love of dolls, horses, & dogs, Barb was an avid gardener of both flowers & vegetables. She got a real kick out of knowing that some cherry tomato plants she’d given to me late last Summer had kept growing in our basement over the Winter, actually yielding a couple of tomatoes in January!
I take comfort in knowing that Barb’s generous soul is at peace, free from all worries, and able to enjoy the endlessly beautiful gardens blooming in Heaven now. 💐
I’m not yet aware of plans for an official memorial. But will post a follow up if I’m able to get any information on this.
