The picture of Blue Goddess is what initially sold me on Gene, then Daughter of the Nile.

I loved Nile, it was just as beautiful as the picture.

Goddess however just didn't look right & I couldn't figure out why at first.

It then dawned on me, the material wasn't the same, therefore it draped differently & not as lovely as the original.
It was a huge disappointment as it reminded me too much of the switcheroo game Mattel played.
They knew perfectly well that when they made the prototype they weren't going to use real silk chiffon for the mass produced doll.

In some cases, I understand changes need to be made
after a picture is taken when mass producing prototypes, but the change to a lower quality fabric is well known in advance.

I couldn't understand it because Nile has so much beading and the robe is made of what looks to be nice chiffon. It drapes so beautifully.

It must be frustrating as a designer & artist to have to make concessions to your product to get it massed produced.

On that note, I will say one thing. Of all the dolls I have purchased, there has been only ONE time did a manufacturer change the fabric to what I consider a better fabric than the prototype picture.

It was the Haute Doll exclusive Fashion Royalty Haute Luxuries. The picture had the suit with those shiny tinsel type threads woven through the fabric which I thought was a cheap looking fabric.
When the doll arrived the fabric had been changed to something that looked so much better (for my personal opinion & taste)
I've never been more pleasantly surprised!
