It's a noir remake of the well-known 1947 original w/Tyrone Power.
It's set in 1941, so the costuming and decor are from the early years of Gene's era.
Directed and co-written by Guillermo del Toro, it also stars Rooney Mara, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette.
(FYI much of the movie takes place among a traveling carnival, and knowing del Toro's other work and it being 2021, there are some violent/horror scenes set there. They are few and far between, but they are memorable and might be intense for children--or sensitive adults like me, lol.)
I loved the movie and can't wait to watch it again. It's visually stunning, and the costuming--especially for Cate Blanchett--is amazing.
