It always seems to take some improvisational efforts with doll stands>> Archived Message

So far, after 20 some years of active collecting, I have not found a perfect stand. There's always something that has to be tweaked. I remember seeing our host Mike put an Ashton Drake stand up one of a Trent's pant legs to stabilize the doll, and it was so simple, and it would NEVER have occurred to me. Many of the Trents' legs wanted to bend without reason, so it was a practical idea, too. When I first got the JS stands, I had trouble getting the telescoping rod to stay stable, and that involved small wrenches and many tiny rubber bands, not to mention some colorful language. Similar problems with the Numina stands. With the larger dolls like Cissy, over the years I bought many saddle stands and used rubber bands around the doll's knees or thighs to stabilize the bodies, as Cissii often have a hip displaysia that makes them wobble. It's part of the picture, and most people have to experiment to keep their dolls posed. I won't say it isn't a concern, for most of us, it is.
